The White House
Installed in 2002, the system includes 145 roof-mounted solar panels, 3 grid-tied inverters and utility interconnection. For this project, Aurora performed:
- Feasibility Study –Site Analysis
- Site Selection
- Comprehensive Design, Documentation, Construction
- Installation
- Commissioning and System Performance Validation
In 1979, President Carter had predicted the then-installed solar water heater on the White House grounds will “either be a curiosity, a museum piece, an example of a road not taken, or it can be just a small part of one of the greatest and most exciting adventures ever undertaken by the American people.”
We agree.

NSA
This 198.81 kW roof-top design installed in 2014 provides the facility with an estimated 326,858 kWh annual generation. Through the life of the system, a projected 8 GW of power will be produced.
Energy savings. Energy security.

The Maryland Science Center
The system included the installation of 18 wall mounted solar modules, 56 roof mounted modules, 2 grid-tied inverters and web accessible monitoring. For this special project, Aurora performed:
- Site Selection
- Comprehensive Design, Documentation, Construction
- Installation
- Commissioning and System Performance Validation
- Grant and Incentives Documentation
- Monitoring
The system’s purpose was to show center visitors how solar production works. The monitoring data is available in the electricity displays.

Department of State
The system included the installation of 104 roof mounted solar modules, a grid-tied central inverter and utility interconnection. Aurora’s energy solution services included
- Site Analysis
- Load Calculations

- Installation
- Commissioning and System Performance Validation
- Monitoring
Aurora Energy continues to support a semi-annual service and maintenance contract for the system.

Earth & Space Science Laboratory
The system included the installation of 50 roof mounted solar modules, 24 wall mounted solar modules, 2 grid-tied inverters, a remote monitoring system, a weather station and utility interconnection.
The monitoring system is publicly available via the internet and displayed in the lobby for educational purposes. The weather station monitors cell temperatures, ambient temperatures, irradiance and wind speeds.

The Pentagon
As part of an aggressive Clinton-era initiative to install solar on 1 million buildings throughout the country in the 1990s, the Department of Defense led by example when they commissioned Aurora Energy to design & install a 110 kW solar array to offset a percentage of the Pentagon’s campus. In the process, Aurora performed:
- Site Analysis
- Engineering
- System Design
- Installation
- Commissioning

Arlington Central Library
In this turnkey energy solution, Aurora provided:
- Site Analysis
- Engineering
- Design
- Installation
The system includes the installation of 250 roof mounted solar modules across three separate roof surfaces, 5 grid-tied inverters, remote monitoring system and utility interconnection.
The monitoring system is publicly available via the internet and displayed in the Library lobby for educational purposes.

Walker Conservancy
The system, located in Roanoke Virginia, includes 36 roof mounted solar modules, 2 grid-tied inverters, a remote monitoring system and utility interconnection.
The monitoring system provides real time system information via the internet and wall mounted display. Aurora performed a full-site service including:
