1994

Thermo Technologies opens for business

Thermo Technologies opens for business

Dr. Fariborz Mahjouri, PE started a company with the concept that one-day solar energy would be a much more dominant form of power sourcing.  Under the name Thermomax USA/Thermo Technologies, the company designed and installed hot water systems, providing solar as an energy source alternative

2002

White House & Pentagon installations

White House & Pentagon installations

Aurora and Thermo Technologies installed a 9.4 kW PV system on the White House swimming pool building and 87 kW ground-mounted PV system at the Pentagon Compound. This increased exposure of the Aurora Energy name establishes the company as a respected solar designer/installer.

2007

Thermo Technologies/Aurora merge

Thermo Technologies/Aurora merge

Thermo Technologies and Aurora Energy LLC merged and the Aurora Energy, Inc. brand was created to design and install both solar thermal and electric PV systems.

2014

Aurora Energy Receives Two Prestigious Awards/Installs NSA System

Aurora Energy Receives Two Prestigious Awards/Installs NSA System

As a SunPower Premier Dealer, Aurora wins the 2014 SunPower Residential National Intelegant Award. This coveted award is given to only one SunPower dealer per year although hundreds of entries are typically received.  It marks excellence in design and craftsmanship. Aurora also receives MDV-SEIA’s Solar Project Residential PV Award for their excellence in design and installation of the Severn Boathouse. That same year, Aurora installs a sizable rooftop array at the National Security Agency

Aurora Becomes Exclusively Commercial

After installing both residential and light commercial systems since its inception, Aurora Energy officially becomes an exclusive commercial installer.

2018

Aurora Wins Commercial PV Award/Recognized as National Top Contractor

Aurora Wins Commercial PV Award/Recognized as National Top Contractor

2018 marks another exceptional year for Aurora as the company receives MDV-SEIA’s Project of the Year Award for outstanding PV design of the United Therapeutics project.  The same year, Aurora Energy officially makes the list of Solar Power World’s Top Solar Contractors.
